LOBFC EXEC MEETING MINUTES Episode 2 – 4th September 2006 “Mmmm, progress!”

Chairman’s Report – Mr Barnes introduced Paul Caldwell and his role
- In doing so he announced that the old club database has been through the initial stages of cleansing via the 1st, 2nd and 3rd team captains. The data will now be owned and updated by Alex Barnes and all changes must go through him. A PDF version will be issued to all exec members for checking and addition of phone numbers.
Minutes of last meeting
- Mike Deasey had been misquoted with respect to the water tap near the football pitch at Botany Bay. A feasibility study is underway but there is no commitment on who will fund what. Other than that minutes were accepted
- Copy has been sent to league and AFA
- Andrew Shapland will send governing body email addresses to Alex Barnes and Paul McGoohan to add to the club distribution list
Matters Arising from last meeting
- Database – done – Well done Barnsey!
- Meetings arranged to end of season – well done Mr Secretary
- Club business cards – still with Alex Barnes – target date, next meeting
- Selection guidelines were left in Portugal on Goohie’s sunlounger! The Portuguese postal service has committed to get them back by the end of the week
- Website profiles are still outstanding from Shappers, Luffy and PC. They will all do it this week
- Players’ handbook still to be reviewed by Alex Barnes – target date next Monday
- Deasey issued the AGM minutes but they are not on the website yet. Are we supposed to circulate a hard copy to the attendees?
- Chairman’s beginning of season statement to go out before the start of the season (durr!)
Secretary’s Report
- Announced fixtures for 1st round of London Old Boy Cup Competitions
- See report from AFA (attached)
- See particularly issue of Public Liability Insurance. Dave N to check if we are covered under BBCC’s insurance
- League handbooks have not yet arrived
- Secretary was asked to put together a club diary of major annual events with the able assistance of Mike Deasey. Still outstanding – will be issued before the next meeting
- Awaiting contact from AFA or the Football Foundation about our new subsidised Goalposts
- Everyone needs to know who the club secretary is so we are going to put details in phone boxes with an alluring picture (and write to Enfield council etc.)
Club Captain’s Report
Treasurer’s Report
- Collected £125 from old debtors since last meeting
- Paul Caldwell to be sent the debtors list immediately
- 2 big debtors (names removed for general publication) have admitted to owing money but now need to cough up
- Currently have 10 (or 11) members who are playing in pre-season and have debts
- Total debt now c£1800. est £600 recoverable
- Paid up members currently at 20 senior and 4 junior. £820 in
- From 3 weekends’ worth of fixtures we only have a handful of outstanding match fees
- Trent Park and Enfield Playing Fields must be paid ASAP
- Asked by Chair to publicise the bank details of the club so as people can pay subs by transfer
- Cheque signatories resolved at the meeting
- Andrew Shapland presented with cheque book for buying beer and hookers (and paying invoices on behalf of the club!)
- Alex Barnes has arranged for the Halifax account to be unlocked
- Club owe the school £50 for a school prize (last year) £100 to be paid (last year and this year) straight away
- We owe LOSA £100 for last year and the year before plus £2.50 per member for this year. These people must be kept sweet and therefore pay it now!!!
- By next meeting anyone on the exec who has not paid season subs will cough up extra £20 and buy a round – no excuses
Social Secretary’s Report
- None submitted Stu Freeman was not around and hadn’t sent one…………
- ………… but Mike Deasey had a poster for the beginning of season piss-up on September 30th. This will coincide with end of cricket season drinks
- Discussions regarding finish time and collecting by minibuses. We agreed on 2030hrs
- Hot buffet to be provided a la Deasey
Fund Raising Secretary’s Report
- Aim to increase 100 Club membership and raise £1800 per season. “It will be easy”
- Investigating ways of raising money on a Saturday night, starting September 30th
- Tony Meeko won 100 club in June but had stopped his direct debit in March so the club won!
- Fundraising Gentlemen’s Dinner (if anyone knows any of any?) planned for February time – Memorabilia to be auctioned anyone?
- The executive are committing to raising “bonus” funds in excess of £2,000 this season
- In this month’s 100 club draw……………

- Mr Deasey to supply contact details for the school bursar to the chairman please
Botany Bay Representative’s Report
- New club boards to be put on the edge of the cricket club with all the member details. It will be brilliant and have the club logo on it
- DN now only goes to the club for membership committee every 3 months. Therefore he may not necessarily attend every single monthly meeting of the FC Exec
- But is welcome every time
Any Other Business
- Luffy needs refs (and oppo) for this Saturday
- Someone needs to look after the website while Graham Archer is on holiday. Alex Barnes has been nominated as the person least incompetent! (and accepted despite being “too busy”)
- All trophies and winners names to be with Dave Naish by the end of the week
