- We’re looking into whether we are still affiliated with London FA or not. There may be some benefits of getting re-affiliated?
- We are losing money un-necessarily through cup match fines. Club captain to re-visit care of referees with the captain. For results cards, we need to put a process in place for next season.
- Action taken to set a date for the AGM and communicate out.
- Need to start thinking what the committee might look like next season. Start sewing the seed in people’s minds about what they can do next season.
- 7th Feb reunion dinner being attended by Dai and he will drop the business cards around. We are also looking into posters and mini-footballs for the school as advertising.
- Next season we should consider donating some branded size-5s to the school for use in PE lessons.
Club Captain’s Report
- Very few matches since last report. This does mean that the fixtures played have evened out across most leagues.
- Inter-club match and the after-event was a complete success.
- Availability has been good and strong spirit for the 1s. Availability is now pushing down into the 2s and therefore 3s hopefully.
- 2s league is all over the place due to disciplinary issues of various teams in that league.
- 4s remain on course for promotion. It is 2nd vs. 3rd in their league this Saturday.
- 3rd XI is in a mess. Lack of experience and strong leadership. We need to find a solution.
- 5th XI will not be playing again until the final week of the month. – it is time for them to pay their subs now.
- “Care of referees” – will be re-affirmed yet again with the captains although things do seem to have improved. – We have not learned our lesson and it cost us a few fines – we need to now!!
- Captains will notify Club Captain each week of any bookings so as fines can go onto the team-sheet ASAP. No action seen on this so far, can we ensure the information comes back to club secretary please?
- Vets had a fantastic December.
- Fixture’s secretary reports – none, submitted he is in Australia.

- Some concern here as although I have 35 names now, 14 of them are guests of the Club. With effectively just two weeks left a massive effort from ALL Exec and Captains is now required if we are to avoid cancelling the event. A minimum of 70 is what we should be looking at for a successful event. Guests, who have accepted invitations, include representatives from the AFC, AFA and Botany Bay Cricket Club. Notable declines include Jim Buttress, Mark Garbett and, although he has helped sponsor the event, Dave Colson.
- The final LOB News, volume 14, was distributed during December.
- As there is no darts fixture on 18th May I have secured that Friday for our Annual Dinner & Dance. This should now be Stuart’s responsibility although I am available for help with caterers and entertainment.
- February 17th has been identified as one of the Saturdays that the Cricketers are meeting during the winter. I have arranged with Simon Clark that we, LOBFC, could provide some opposition to compete with them at darts and pool on that evening. I can handle the Darts, does anybody want to get some names together for a Pool challenge.
- We need to sell, sell, sell tickets for club meal.
- Alex Barnes to contact AJ.
- Paul to speak to all captains and they must get a team of 8 minimum per team.
- House committee meeting in progress during our Exec.
- Andrew Shapland to book a table for AFA dinner on May 11th. Exec and Team Captains to keep the evening free. £40 per ticket.
- First aid equipment should be provided for every home game – re-visit with Matt Sutcliffe. – Paul McGoohan to chase this up by the next meeting. Club captain to sort before next executive meeting. Ajay Patel might help?
- Club secretary to liaise with Trevor Simms and co-ordinate letters to the BBCC regarding the Yorkshire Old Boys game on April 7th (Easter Saturday).
- Letter has been sent to Botany Bay Exec regarding Saturday evening opening. We await a response.
